Lewis Creek Area
(small bridge across FM 1097)
These photos were taken on the lake as you look towards Lake Conroe Hills and the Shell station. More photos to come as we will take them from the road today. It is virtually impossible to go much further than the "boat lane" of Pelican Bay because the Hydrilla covers the lake from Pelican Island across to Lake Conroe Hills.

Healthy, isn't it?? And how many White Amur were released in the Lewis Creek area?

Boaters are no longer able to enter the dock area of the Shell station. It is blocked by thick patches of hydrilla.

When the first 4300 White Amur were released, many were "penned up" for a few weeks prior to their release. That was in March 2006....and the "pens" are still there! Covered in Hydrilla, in fact!! Thanks for that eyesore, TPWD!!
